BLURB as for Penfriend Tourist Subject-Sorted Guide Zine on Disk

This blurb is after the README.TXT of the freeware penpal zine-on-disk which "ExtraMuros" aka Bill Helem devised to give to shareware distributors at computer swap meets around Melbourne and elsewhere...:-

"MapDot Protocol" with Flag-Cat-Keywords is a subject classification scheme, which uses a subject-sorted penpal list to demonstrate Flagged-Categorized-Keywords;

CONVERSELY,

Penpal Tourist Subject-Sorted Guide is an e-zine, which uses "MapDot Protocol" with Flagged-Categorized-Keywords for focus subjects.

"MapDot Protocol"

For an MapDot Category of 6 characters a MapDot is a slightly trapezoidal rectangle of approx 10.5 min longitude by 5 min latitude. At mapdot-02c575-Melbourne the MapDot is approx 16 km by 10 km.

It is good to attach a Cat from another division after the MapDot-Cat (e.g., mapdot-1437F0-y22-Cebu esp-music of.). This "-y22" denotes an especial cultural aspect. You can mix-and-match in other ways. It is useful to attach the year in history (e.g., mapdot-02C605-8w80-Glenrowan esp-1880).

This project has a touristy and a quirky Aussie slant, yet with an "extramural", open access, philosophy for other viewpoints.

REMINDER:

I ask everyone who writes to Penpal Tourist Subject-Sorted Lists to name their subject of focus, even when not submitting details for listing.

It helps me to send you info or maybe a selected list. Of course, that requires return postage. 2 IRCs or a self-addressed envelope with Australian stamp is OK.

I like to confirm Aussies. I normally relay Oz addresses only to o'seas addresses.

You Know How to:
  • Use Flag-Cat-Keyword tags if seeking selected contacts or submitting your details;
  • Focus on the touristy-place, ethnic group, life&time, industry, skill or study you know and love best;
  • Keep editor happy with standard pattern of details and use of keywords for your Major Subject of Focus.

Later on:

  • You may ask to be removed (Free);
  • or you may ask to have your details changed (small donation suggested).
MISSION STATEMENT for YOU and ME:

Be extramural!

This project aspires to be a neutral facility for linking up, as is the telephone or Internet; or an accessible resource for knowledge and ideas, like a public library. We believe knowledge or skill is a group co-operation, esp. at industries, where goods and services are produced, and similarly at institutions of learning.

Be "ambi-cultural"!

We believe a cultural tourist experienced at place, time, history or imagination can enrich our life. To discover other peoples' heritage is to discover one's own.

Responsibility is yours!

This is not an introduction agency. So if you happen to be seeking business or social relationship, or even matrimony, be skeptical, check each other out for truth and suitability, perhaps ask an ethical intro agency or broker or enquiry agency for advice.

Are YOU, yourself, trustworthy, reliable, healthy, wealthy enough or ready for the relationship you dream of? Ask clergyman, gate-keeper social worker, physician, tribal-elder, control-freak-blue-rinse-lady, accountant..or? Go for win-win; avoid win-lose. Go for it: "Step outside the box.".

Remember, "ExtraMuros" is editor of text submitted by participants

and reserves the right to use, reject or slant to the needs of project.

GOOD LUCK! We hope you're just

the right kind of person to contribute to,

and gain from, extramural opportunity

and international understanding.

And new pals! Peace! - "ExtraMuros"

BEYOND-WALLS... LOVE... KNOWLEDGE... WISDOM... HUMILITY...
