F-C-K: Flag-Cat-Keywords: Intro and Brainstorm for Application Ideas

F-C-K Shelf Locations were devised to sort and list, penpals or contacts
and abstracted texts, according to related major topics. With your help
Flag-Cat-Keys can become a standard, with an Australian slant. Or be useful in HTML.

Wave a Flag-Cat-Key in any text according to its Focus Subject! Or embed.
This can help you find it again, or help search engines index it on Internet..
It's the reverse process to entering a string/word for a search.. It's a handshake for cognoscente.
Do insert a Flag-Cat-Key of favourite MapDot into Meta tag of Personal Home Page
eg, <meta name="keywords" content="MapDot#02C605-@w80-Glenrowan esp-1880CE,... ">

Flags:

MapDot= City&TouristyMapDot/Country/Culture../ancient site;
E&L= Ethnic&Language group;
F&W= FamePerson&Works (biography);
H&Y= History&Year;
I&P= Industry&Process/Product/Prime economic activity;
J&S= JobSkill&Study;
K&H= Knowledge&Hobbies, other interests;..
Also: D&I= H&A= H&Z= L&R= O&P=
Metainformation: The Flags represent important cultural spaces
where humans construct and share meaning and identity.
[ I've been dipping into Megawords Richard Osborne (2001) Sydney: Allen & Unwin.]

Categories:

Codes after a Flag: an alphanumeric classification

Keywords:

The keywords after the "Flag-Cat-" we have listed, are category labels.
Labels attempt to be controlled vocabulary based on classification schemes.
( For "benchmark" definitions of Fields of JobSkill and Study you can
download ASCED, at the Australian Bureau of Statistics Web site. )
You may use as-is or change to a more precise name of your subject.

Or use "esp-.." or "v-.." after keyword:

EIGHT MAPDOT_SEQUENCE ZONES

MAPDOT GRID PROTOCOL: How to Convert to:
MapDot#000000... [Feel free to use or publish.]

MapDot_Protocol gives a "library-shelf" location for every MapDot on Planet Earth. These locations come first in the Flag-Cat-Key list of subjects of focus.

  • MapDot_Protocol follows The Sun through 8 zones East to West
  • Each zone is divided into 8 blocks South to North
    ( The dividers are: antarctic/arctic circles, 45 degree parallels, tropics, equator. The whole antarctic and arctic are appended as blocks to the "Early Day Zone" )
  • The blocks are divided into 16 by 16 and so on.. ad lib, in hexadecimal numeration.
  • The grid co-ordinates, as alphanumerics, are interlaced for sequence
NOTE: Converting Longitude & Latitude co-ordinates to MapDot_Protocol can be done by hand, but Bill Helem, the author, uses Quatro Spreadsheet Geographic Coordinates to MapDot Protocol (59Kb download).
MapDot_Protocol is a find-select-n-sortable character-string, not a quantity.
Concatenated region blocks can be selected using MapDot_Protocol.
For worldwide place name co-ordinates, Getty TGN can help;
for Aussie place names, Geoscience Australia;
but first try clicking on MapDot Protocol Zone Map.

THE EARLIER MAPDOT_SEQUENCE WAS BASED ON TEN ZONES

  • MapDot_Sequence follows The Sun through 10 zones East to West
  • Each zone is divided into 10 blocks South to North
  • The blocks are divided into 10 by 10 and so on.. ad lib.
  • The grid co-ordinates are interlaced for sequence

"MapDot_Sequence" might be called
"globe centesimal interlaced co-ordinates". You work out thus:-

#W1N1W2N2... from International Date Line and South Pole
eg, Mecca 140.1° W of IDL 111.5° N of S Pole
= Mecca centesimal 38.916W 61.944N = MapDot_Sequence MapDot#[old]36819914-Mecca.
That is how to convert MapDot co-ordinates into a sequence string.

Perhaps it helps to visualise South Pole as "TopEnd".

Think of MapDot_Sequence as a "GPS" (Global Position "Sequence").

ADOPT a MapDot ... Rendezvous at Personal Home Page

For an MapDot_Sequence of 8digits a MapDot is a slightly trapezoidal rectangle of approx. 2 min longitude by 1 min latitude.

At the equator, eg, MapDot#14B01E-Singapore, the MapDot is 3.7 km by 1.8 km.

The longitude side reduces to 0 km at poles, eg, at MapDot-02c575-Melbourne the MapDot is 3 km by 1.8 km.

You could adopt a touristy MapDot you know well and share info with contacts or penpals.

You could sponsor a MapDot or other subject of focus : wave its Flag-Cat-Keyword on Internet.
Use in <meta name="keywords" content=" Flag-Cat-Key ">
eg, <meta name="keywords" content="MapDot#144AF0-x34-Manila esp-history,... "> on your Web page.
Try, between <head> ... </head>, <title>MapDot#02C605-@w80-Glenrowan esp-1880CE,... </title>
<title>MapDot#ww-#fr-#ca-worldwide French esp-expatriates in Canada,... </title>
<title>J&S-y23-02c575-g710-poetry performance esp-Melbourne in pubs,... </title>
.
Thus, give your Web page a book classification code in the library of cyberspace, then wave it and submit it as a keyword for search engines to index; establish a Cyber-Rendezvous on your Personal Home Page; generate networking; keep active a focus subject; submit an F-C-K topic for my data entry drop-down list; publish your list with standard Flag-Cat-...
Try YearDot<title>H&Y-@u88-#ww-x34-1688CE esp-worldwide esp-history esp-"1688: A Global History" by John E. Wills,... </title>
Or mix-n-match year and MapDot to suit, eg, <title>H&Y-@x41-#748E39-1941 esp-Pearl Harbor,...</title>

HINTS

Choose category label word(s) listed below (earliest location is
probably best). Use for your subject Keyword; or substitute with
a more precise word; or follow the keyword with esp-(ecially)...

eg, city name or touristy MapDot after country category code;
or product or service name after industry category code etc.

MapDot#02C5B1-Geelong, MapDot#022334-Victoria esp-Geelong,
I&P-g710-accommodation, I&P-g710-hotels, I&P-g710-youth hostels.

You can follow Keyword with v-(iewpoint) to denote relationship
to subject, eg, I&P-g720-z22-pubs esp-bar-service v-alcoholic.

"esp-" is good for Cultural Aspects eg, MapDot#1437F0-y22-Cebu esp-music of.

Categories followed by a Keyword with esp- aspects can be compounded
eg, MapDot#14B01E-z22-Singapore esp-waiting and bar service;
H&Y-@w80-#02C605-1880 esp-Glenrowan...
That was a "YearDot".

KNOWLEDGE TREES to Help You "DO A FIND"

Subjects are grouped: in sequence and hierarchy . A Find using the
first character of the Category will match with related subject areas;
using the first two characters of the Category will zoom in.. and so on.

CAN YOU HELP ME? ...IMPROVEMENTS OR PROMOTIONAL HELP?
  IN THE NAME OF WWW ENHANCEMENT   AND THE MapDot IDEA

Authorial Note:
Are you a bit of an HTML buff? I'm not, not yet. Maybe you could offer some "inspirational" suggestions for my project. Could it work? Is it a folly? Is there a fatal flaw?
Should we promote embedded HTML tags <fck="fckC#...">...</fck>,
where "..C.." means "MapDot/City" and "#..." is MapDot sequence? And so on.
( NB: The sort order [Paradox default] of flags and categories are congruent,
so don't suggest intrusive flags.)
Is there a co-operative search-engine out there??
Is there a URL submission tool with meta tag generator who could use an F-C-K thesaurus??
Is there a translation site, eg, Babelfish, willing to translate Keywords into Flag-Cat-Keys??
Is there a postcode utility which could lookup Flag-Categories for Keywords??

Meanwhile for Your Personal Home Page:
I urge you to experiment with the following:-
<meta name="keywords" content="Flag-Cat-Key">,
eg, <meta name="keywords" content="MapDot#0216E1-Auckland, ..">
<meta name="keywords" content=".., J&S-xc2-Librarianship">
.
Category codes can be compounded according to slant of Focus-Subject,
eg, <title>H&Y-@o66-#36F4D5-1066CE esp-Hastings ,...</title>.

COMMUNICATE  ==  FLAG YOUR WEB PAGE :-) ( Also see: Summary )

IF you want to discuss ideas person-to-person, NOT for sales or propaganda, THEN...
Wave your F-C-K MapDot and/or YearDot, or F-C-K focus subject, on your Web page
The Flag-Cat-Keyword can be in page text, perhaps of background color
AND in <meta name="keywords" CONTENT="Flag-Cat-Key, ..">
eg, <meta name="keywords" content="MapDot#02C605-Glenrowan, ..">
Note: Special MapDot Protocol for "Worldwide Named Nation expatriates.."
<title>MapDot#ww-#es-#cl-worldwide Spaniards esp-expatriates in Chile,... </title>
<title>E&L-;X7-7au@x5-ITALIAN language & culture esp-in Australia esp-1950's</title>
<title>H&Y-@y02-u13--7au2002CE politics esp-Australian national</title>
Note: Special Protocol for "Backpacker Hostel Experiences Named Location"
<meta name="keywords" content="I&P-g71b-#022334-backpacker-experiences esp-Victoria,..">
<meta name="keywords" content="J&S-w7t-tourism-studies, ..">

ALSO: Use MapDot and F-C-K for databases, for listing purposes -- and be creative...

I, the author, welcome suggestions, but don't promise to reply
Also modest philosophical / sociological speculations on "industry"
"HumanResources", "ethnic identity", "cross-cultural perceptions",
"bureaux of stats perceptions", "controlled vocabulary",
"knowledge classification", "community development", "Peace & Understanding"..
AND practical applications, eg, import Flag-Cats to thesaurus
or specialist/foreign dictionary... [I use Flag-Cat-Keys in Paradox,
or Lotus Approach, data-entry lookup tables. I can printout selected
participant records to aerogrammes... a convergent technology!!]

F-C-K: Flagged-Categorized-Keyword: a Web Development == Summary:-

  • There is a Flag-Category-Keyword for every MapDot (city or tourist-site).
  • Other Flag-Cat-Keyword divisions are H&Y (year in history) and J&S (job-skill or study-subject).
  • The Flag-Cat-Keyword consists of three parts: the Flag (e.g., MapDot); the Category (e.g., #02C605); the Keyword (e.g., Glenrowan). This example is for MapDot#02C605-Glenrowan.
  • It is good to attach a Cat from another division after the MapDot-Cat (e.g., MapDot#1437F0-y22-Cebu esp-music of.). This "-y22" denotes an especial cultural aspect. You can mix-and-match in other ways. It is useful to attach the year in history (e.g., MapDot#02C605-@w80-Glenrowan esp-1880).
  • The F-C-K/MapDot protocol groups subjects in "library-shelf" sequence and hierarchy . Thus a Find using the first character of the Category will match with related subject areas; then zoom in...
  • Do wave an F-C-K/Mapdot on your Web page as text or meta-keyword.. MapDot/F-C-K is also useful for databases and sorted lists (e.g., PenpalTourist Subject-Sorted Lists).
  • To expand for more ideas to share go to "Introduction and Brainstorm" at top of this page.
